The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government program that provides funding and support to people with disability so they can live more independently and participate fully in their community.
The NDIS focuses on choice, control, and individual goals, allowing participants to choose the supports and providers that best suit their needs.
Each NDIS participant has an individual NDIS plan that includes:
Personal goals
Approved support categories
A set funding period
Participants use their funding to choose providers like Geelong Community & Care Services (GCCS) to deliver their supports.
The NDIS is designed to give participants:
Choice over who supports them
Control over how and when supports are delivered
Flexibility to change providers if needed
NDIS funding can be managed in different ways.
GCCS currently supports:
You manage your own NDIS funding and pay providers directly.
A registered plan manager pays providers on your behalf and helps manage invoices.
GCCS does not currently support NDIA (agency-managed) participants.
The NDIS provides funding, not direct services.
This funding can be used for supports such as:
Assistance with daily living and personal care
Community and social participation
Transport and travel supports
Skill development and capacity building
Assistive products and technology (low risk)
Home supports and safety assistance
Employment and education-related supports
All supports must be:
Reasonable and necessary
Related to the participant’s disability
Aligned with the participant’s NDIS goals
Geelong Community & Care Services (GCCS) is an NDIS unregistered provider.
This means:
We can support self-managed and plan-managed participants
We follow the NDIS Code of Conduct
We maintain policies, procedures, and safeguarding systems
